Hanging out with my friend and Ghetto Poet “Eddie (Moon) Shanks” in Tamil Nadu India back in the early 90s was a very creative time in my life. Not least of all the climate in southern India affected my song writing.

Eddie and me hanging out in our deserted beautiful hotel a few minutes’ walk from “Rama steps” SE Tamil Nadu.

Winter was wonderful dry weather balmy cool evenings and such but once the spring hit and summer crawled into view the weather became so hot sticky and debilitating in regards to moving the body around. Hence I came up with the song Tamil Nadu Burnt Out Blues a very slow 2 chorded song using F sharp and D flat7 sharp 9.

Steve Gardner playing in a local Pub in Auroville, Tamil Nadu.

Me playing my white SG “Nelly” in a pub in Auroville Tamil Nadu.

The pace of the song is affected by the heat just as much as my brain, crawling along the desert floor. Recorded in Hong Kong a few years later. It’s very much a spaced out vocal piece.
